Casino de Montréal Says “No” To Gambling With The Environment

Canada’s largest casino, Casino de Montréal, has been dedicated to helping the environment for years. When it comes to gambling, the environment is not something they’re willing to put on the table. The casino has had a long dedication to improving and maintaining positivity within the community they serve, through their social initiatives as well as their environmental movements.

With April being Earth Month, the Canadian casino has launched their latest initiative against negative environmental impacts. The executives at the popular gambling location have announced that they’re beginning a movement to eliminate cigarette butts – the single most littered item in all of North America – from being tossed on the ground. They’re joining forces with TerraCycle, a highly environmentally conscious company from Canada, to begin an entirely separate collection service for cigarette butts. With the separate collection bin, they’re hoping that they will raise awareness and reduce waste of these items which so many smokers all too easily toss to the ground without a second thought.

This is not, however, their first effort to help the environment. With conservation efforts have been long employed, and have even caused positive effects and changes to be made in other casinos throughout the country. By replacing plastic water bottles with reusable glasses in their gambling facilities, they have had a great amount of success in reducing plastic consumption. This trend has caught on and has been rolled out to other casinos in Quebec, and is estimated to eliminate over 1 million plastic bottles from landfills and waste bins. Their conservation efforts with plastic are also matched with their attempts to reduce the use of paper products on sight. Recently Casino de Montréal was given a Level 2 certification by the Quebec program RECYC-QUÉBEC’s Ici, on recycle!

With these successes and the announcement of their new TerraCycle partnership generating even more buzz about the eco-friendly casino, the gambling atmosphere is greener than ever. Visitors to Casino de Montréal can rest assured that they’re going green while they work to win the green!
